Natalie Symons

Natalie Symons is a playwright, actress and novelist based in St Petersburg, FL where she lives with her husband, actor Jim Sorensen, and their canine daughter, Chloe.

Her plays have been developed and produced at freeFall Theatre, ACT Theatre, Aurora Theatre, American Stage, New American Theatre, Theater Schmeater, Florida Studio Theatre, Bridge Street Theatre, Theatre22, Amas Musical Theatre, New Century Theatre, and Urbanite Theatre.

Awards and recognitions include Lark Eden: Suzi Bass nomination; The Buffalo Kings: Creative Loafing Critics’ Choice Best Playwright Award; 8 TTB Award nominations including Outstanding Play; Broadway World Best Play Award; Naming True: Ashland New Plays Festival Play4Keeps Podcast; ACT/Theatre22 The Construction Zone New Works Festival; Recipient of Palm Beach Dramaworks’ Dramaworkshop Prize; Bridge Initiative Women in Theatre Playwright of the Year Award finalist; Ashland New Plays Festival finalist; Hope and Optimism finalist (University of Notre Dame and Cornell University).

Natalie is currently the Playwright-in-Residence at American Stage. She is the author of the upcoming novel, Lies In Bone, a literary mystery set in a forgotten steel town in Pennsylvania.

Recent regional acting credits include Reborning (Urbanite Theatre); Last of the Red Hot Lovers (Stageworks); One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest; An Empty Plate in the Café du Grand Boeuf; Becky Shaw; The Comedy of Errors (freeFall Theatre); and The Foreigner (American Stage).
