Play4Keeps Podcast | Free full play: THE HARDER COURAGE by Leslie Slape, Pt 2

Welcome to part two of THE HARDER COURAGE by Leslie Slape. We are excited to offer you free access to this play in full. Our recording features Michael Gabriel Goodfriend, U. Jonathan Toppo, Eric Poppick, and stage directions read by Nancy Rodriguez. THE HARDER COURAGE was an ANPF 2018 finalist and we are thrilled to present it as part of our Play4Keeps Podcast.

Based on true events in southwest Washington in 1891-92, Sheriff Ben Holmes arrests and ultimately hangs Robert Day for first degree murder. During 8 months in jail, the talkative, emotional prisoner and the bashful, quiet sheriff develop an unlikely friendship and ultimately share secrets each has been carrying since the Civil War. Holmes helps Day find the courage to die, and Day helps Holmes find the harder courage to take his life.
